There are
a wide variety of philosophies towards work and managing people used all over
the world. In some countries, the boss is the commander and controls every
aspect of the company. In other countries, bosses are simply there as mentors
and to guide other workers to reach the goals of the company. Many places have
a combination of the two and create their own management-to-employee systems to
help their companies run as efficiently as possible.
For Sukamto Sia,
running his multiple businesses can only be accomplished by him being a
hands-on leader. Sukarman Sukamto has made sure that his employees when they
first begin their work know exactly what is expected of them. Sukarman Sukamto
is a firm believer that if you want something done right, you have to do it
yourself. At the very least, you have to show others how you want something
done; of course one person cannot do everything in a company.
The
attention that Sukarman Sukamto pays to his
company and his employees as a hands-on leader has truly paid off. He is a
business tycoon in his home country of Singapore and has led a very
successful professional life. He credits much of his success to his ability to
help others see the vision he has for how something should be done or how the
results of an activity should be.
Sukarman
Sukamto doesn't think he could manage people any other way. For him, being
hands on is a part of his nature and he feels much better running his companies
knowing that his employees have seen exactly what is expected of them to be
successful.
